Email sent from a concerned resident of George Town to NoSwiftletHousesInGeorgeTown@gmail.com:

Are there any building laws or guidelines set by UNESCO in order to keep our UNESCO listing? This is in the core zone. I live here with my family. We are law abiding citizens. Are we not entitled to basic public health laws? Who is responsible if there is a death from bird flu or any of the diseases birds carry? Where is the enforcement needed to protect the UNESCO listing that should benefit everyone? Where is the Ministry of Health to protect us from the possibility of a bird flu epidemic? Is the Government willing to sacrifice our lives?

Dear sirs,

What bird flu epidemic are you talking about? Swiftlets are not alient species. Swiftlets are local species, stay at old abandoned buildings, sometimes five foot ways in Georgetown too, under the bridges etc since our great grandfathers time. If your assumption is true, flu epidemic should have spread and u & me wouldn't be here today.

Also, the photo is so deceiving. That is a photo of a house still under renovation. Tell me, if you revamp your pre-historic shophouses into restaurants, koaroke, pub, discos, internet cafes ,,, during renovation stage, they wouldnt look the same as the photo?? Please dont mislead, misguide and deceive the general public.
